When it comes to the company’s new advertising campaign, it’s safe to say Mobil Corp. believes it will fly.

The Fairfax-based oil company has brought its longtime symbol, the flying red horse Pegasus, to life in television commercials this year. The mythological horse, long a static fixture on the signs and pumps at service stations, was animated by computer and transformed into a TV personality by DDB Needham Worldwide.

Mobil executives believe that Pegasus is the perfect symbol for what they want to say to consumers in their “Take Wing” ad campaign.

“The Take Wing’ message is: Come to Mobil and we will allow you to get on with your life quickly,” said Kevin Jeter, vice president for global fuel marketing.

The Pegasus symbol “also says leadership for us,” he said. “It’s majestic and flies above. It says we’re a company that not only cares about the product but the quality of the service when you’re there.”

Should the Mobil Pegasus Decal be of faulty workmanship, or, not to design, or, poor print quality, or, poor adhesion we will re supply a replacement item at no cost to you. Poor application is not covered.
